Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to have my deer skull euro mounted?

Here’s a price list of having a skull cleaned, subject to change.

Deer Skull (fresh, skinned, eyes and brain removed)- 120$
Please expect a 25$-50$ extra fee if these things are not done, or are only partially done.

Dead Head - 150$
Deadheads are substantially more work and take longer

Large Predator Skull (wolf, bear, cougar) - 200$

Small Predator Skull(coyote, fox, bobcat) - 100$

Longhorn, Bison - $350

Elk - 150$

Others - TBD

If for some reason you are not able to bring in a fresh skull, please ensure it is frozen. I don’t like maggots.

That seems like a lot, why so much?

This is a service I am providing and it costs me money to supply the electricity to run the tanks, money to buy peroxide, money to buy degreasing products and my time is valuable. I’m not trying to be harsh, but I work hard to give you something that you will be proud of!

Ok, but the turn around time is WAY longer then my buddy who can boil it for me and get it back in a week. What gives?

Like all things, cheaper and faster doesn’t mean better. It just means cheaper and faster. Boiling can cause the grease in a skull to seep deeper into the bone, only to show up as unpleasant yellow staining and grease spots. Degreasing can take several months on something like a longhorn or bear.

You work hard for your hunts, prepping for months or in some cases even years. Why rush the final momento of all your effort to be left with a sub par skull when you put so much effort into harvesting it?

I’m interested in a Longhorn skull. How much?

Prices for longhorns range from 1500$ - 6500$, based on size, quality and colours.

Sweet, how long do they take to get back if I buy one raw from you?

Probably around 6 months, give or take a couple of months.

Do you take skulls to be cleaned that aren’t hunters?

I do! I can provide cleaning for most critters, but if you have a very small skull you want cleaned, I might refer you to someone who has dermestid beetles. Macerating can be tough with little bones because of the connective tissue breakdown.

What if I want my skull back before you think it is done?

I’m not in the business of holding other peoples stuff hostage so you can have it anytime you want, but payment will be expected in full prior to release of the skull. There is a good chance you will get impatient during the degreasing process, which is pretty close to the home run stretch depending how far in we are.

Wow, I love your work. Can you tell me exactly how to do it?

While I’m not above helpful tips or conversation, nope.

There are lots of resources out there if you are really serious about learning how to do this.
